This is just my opinion
Have you ever stopped and noticed your surroundings? Saying, "Wow, what a world I'm living in". Or even asked how our world can change/ progress that fast. Rarely. That's how we as human beings are, we often take things for granted. We aren't even curious about the people outside our zone.
If we compare the world now we live in and the world before, we would be surprised of how much changes it has made. From caves as shelters to skyscraper-high buildings. From natural source of light to light bulbs. These changes were made by people from the past with many times of failing experiments and here we are just using it, not caring whether to turn off the lights, not knowing how lucky we are of what we have.
We do not realize that there's a world before ours, people from other countries who's starving, needing education, shelter and others that we have and waste. For example, children in Africa (above) are starving while we're wasting food, being picky of it even. Us not wanting to study when we could, while they can't.
Hence, once in a while stop and realize.
